Forget The Rules – Art Journal

Still playing with these fun new faces.

I found these giant letters in a sports magazine I somehow got a free subscription to. Don’t ask me how, but it makes great art journal fodder. I love these letters.

Under the paint it says…

“Forget the rules. Just do your own thing.” Yeah!

I started by choosing some random colors and painting the background. Adding a few stamps with black paint in between.

Then once my face was drawn I could not seem to choose a hair color. I decided to just play with the background colors and then ended up doing her lips to match.

Then I realized this page was perfect for those fabulous letters that spelled the word Rules. And since red and yellow lips (not to mention her lovely multi-hued tresses) would be breaking the rules of what is normally acceptable it just had to be!

Today I am going to create inchies and use them in my journal in a fun way. I will try to do a video for you!
