A Little Dark I Would Say

I decided to go waaay outside of my box and paint something a bit dark. So far the response has been an overwhelmingly shocking. I like them and the reaction to them as well.
I’ll let you be the judge:

First up: The Calling

Direct from my nightmares for your enjoyment. This is the largest canvas I have attempted so far: 30″ x 40″ x 1″. Details:

Next: The Screamer

This one is my favorite so far. The colors are richer and deeper than they appear here in this photo. Do you just have those moments of pure frustration and you are trying to be calm and rational… but inside this is what you want to do? Heh! Details:

Last but not least: The Martyr

I’m not sure if this one is entirely done yet. She ended up a tad bit bloodier than I initially intended. I may have to start over and redo it a bit. Also I’m not positive if I am happy with the barbed wire. It may be a bit over the top. Subtlety should produce a better scare than this over abundance. I imagine that in my zeal for painting nightmares I got a little carried away. These are not exactly flowers, which would be fine in abundance. Details:

I have another painting in the works right now. The working title for that is ‘winged avenger’. He is no where near complete enough to be photographed.

I have to admit painting these has been far more fun than I ever imagined. All of those years spent watching horror flicks and reading horror/sci-fi/and fantasy novels seems to have given me loads of inspiration.
