Self-portrait – A challenge I had yet to meet. Done!

I’ve never tried to paint myself. It was worth it. Why?  I never like photographs of myself. This morning I snapped a quick photo of myself with my webcam, and then painted from it before I could chicken out. That felt very good. Surprising myself, I actually liked the photo and the painting. Of course I took artistic license and did not paint in any fine lines. Hey, it’s my painting!

I have to give a big shout out to my friend Jane whose idea to do this is the only reason I tried it. Jane is running a little challenge to artists this weekend to motivate them and herself to paint a self-portrait. Thank you Jane, I’m so glad you decided to do this and ask us to join in.
