I took an unplanned break from the abstract project (and from my portrait commission) to indulge in a little texture-mania. I came across this video on YouTube (and this one) with a fun and messy way to create abstract textured pieces. I love playing with texture and since I am using up supplies I thought I would give it a shot with the last of the Spackle I had on hand.
This isn’t the full piece, just the center of the large daisy. I also had a few wooden applique bits leftover and I added them. I ended up making three pieces. This one in Spackle, a second piece with caulk and the third piece with mastic, which I am still finishing up. If you like texture and getting paint on your fingers you might want to watch the video and give this a try.
