• Calm Before The Storm – Contemporary Seascape

    My latest seascape painting titled: Calm Before The Storm

    Painted on canvas in acrylics it is my favorite size: 24 x 18. The edges are painted so you do not need to frame this piece. This is the beauty of a summer storm just before it is close enough to darken the sky. But close enough that you see the change in the sky and the sun glinting off of stormy clouds in the distance.

    This was a first for me in that I did not plaster the canvas before painting. Just a few very thin layers of gesso as a base. I do like the look of the canvas weave subtly showing beneath the painted surface.
