• My First Gallery Show and Art Walk in review

HOWL Gallery did a fantastic job with their show “SWFL Lives”. Everything was nicely lit and the art placement was excellent, with well designed labels and nice artist bios posted with the pieces. I even saw a woman busy trying to get the spelling right on my last name ;) to vote for one of my pieces in the viewers choice contest. That was really great considering my pieces were a bit tame/ traditional for that venue. I should have submitted the above painting to this fun alternative gallery!

I was sad to see one gallery appeared to be closed. I have no idea why, and it was filled with art still, but it had a for rent sign outside. One gallery really disappointed in what they had hanging on the walls and their presentation. After spending so much time researching labels to see little tiny hand written stickers with nothing but prices on them felt a little like bad taste. And it seemed to be filled with loud drunk people.

I only got in to see two other galleries but they were both great. My three favorite paintings were still hanging at daas gallery. At $1000 each they are way out of my budget but I can still fantasize about owning them ;) The gallery doesn’t have any photos of them online or I would link to them.

All in all it was a great night and I am so proud to have been selected to be a part of the show! To all the artists out there who have not gone out and looked at your local galleries or considered submitting your work to one I am here to tell you to go for it. It was a great experience and one I would love to do again.
