• Elementals series: Senegal woman I, II & III

Posted on August 17, 2010 by in Blog, Painting

Above is the first of four paintings of this lovely young woman from Senegal.

Sick from allergies I ended up finishing this one up over two days instead of one.

I chose to use a limited palette of only three colors for her on this third painting. Today I will paint the last portrait for Senegal.

Painting in series like this has really helped me to see a variety of things that I do not see in the beginning studies. I find this in both the drawing stage and in the painting stage. I have been drawing them all at once, then going back and painting them one a day.

I’m looking forward to moving on soon to something different. I’m considering some folk art paintings. Perhaps even animals (other than birds).
