• Diamond In The Rough

Combining portraits with abstract this month has been my focus. I have enjoyed working with simple shapes and pushing them as far as I can think of.

This painting started out as a 12″ x 12″ portrait on paper. I decided to crop the painting and add it to a 20″ x 24″ canvas.

I love diamonds as a shape so I spent a little time create various diamond stencils to use on this piece.

Very much a mixed-media painting with ink and watercolor paint, acrylic paints, gel medium and plaster for texture. I tried to limit the palette just a bit going with a gold yellow, medium blue, bright green, a touch of brown and hint of orange pink for accents.

I am very satisfied with the outcome. If you are interested in purchasing this painting you can visit my ArtFire store where it will be available later today.

Please note: These images are taken outside in diffused sunlight. The painting will appear slightly darker (and richer) inside.

Christy, this appears to have the blue layer raised over a beige layer, but I bet that is just how darn good you are. This is wonderful.
