• Dia de los Muertos – A quick challenge art journal page

An art journal page dedicated to the celebration of the dead

Now that I am done with the creation and running of my 30 Days class I have been playing a bit. I never imagined how tough it is to do 30 plus videos, pdfs and come up with more challenging things every day through out a class.

I tip my hat to other art instructors for how beautifully they manage it. It isn’t easy. But it is very rewarding. To see the results from my students and to hear their joy at learning new things. Very rewarding.

So on my first official day of not taping I chose to create a video (see below post) and participate in a challenge for Dia de los Muertos. Art is such a part of my life that even on official days off I still make art. I simply try to make art that is more for fun than for others.

And this art journal page was definitely fun! I have never before attempted to work with the imagery of this holiday and was really unsure if I could pull it off. Other than a little too heavy on the flourishes (I can’t resist them) I did pretty good. And I had such fun doing it that it was well worth the ‘out of box’ experience. In fact, that was a big part of the fun, doing something I wouldn’t normally do. And finding I enjoyed myself.

Hope you are having a great weekend!
