• DAJP – #15 An Accidental Story

A favorite word is juxtaposition and that is exactly what I ended up with.

The individual images alone could mean anything, or nothing. But combined they lend a certain seediness to these two pages. Not originally planned and yet when it all started to come together and tell a story, I was intrigued and decided to just let it happen.

Initially I started with just these two curtains. A deep rich red. I was then challenged to do something with the color scheme of aqua, red and orange.

Something strange happened and even the words here are a play since I did indeed just make this up!

Materials: collage images, found text, acrylics, markers, sewing, glue, gel pen

Colors: Aqua, Orange, Red, Black, White

PS: I have decided to start numbering these. A few years from now that should be a fun thing to look back on!

I KOVE this especially the way everything all just fell into place as a play on things. Thank you! I love these two pages both for the funny story they represent and for the color combo. I don’t think I have ever sat down and thought gee I want to work exclusively with orange, red and aqua. Nope. But it is a beautiful combo!
The curtains were out of a magazine and I had sewn them into the journal when I first made it. Having no real idea what to do with them beyond that. As soon as I heard the color combo we were to work with I went flipping through the journal to find those deep red curtains! lol
