• DAJP # 12 Just Sketching As Ordered

Posted on January 12, 2012 by in Art Journals, Blog, Featured

I do not sketch often enough.

I’m a lazy artist. I spend so much time painting that I tend to neglect the practice of drawing. And when I do draw I tend to rush rush so I can get to the part I love. That would be the part that includes paint.

But it is so important to continue to practice drawing. Really drawing, for the sake of the actual image, not as a means to the paint.

Over on the Creatives group on FB Pixie and Kelly have us sketching a face every other week. Now when the faces are male I tend to skip. But the female faces I do love to draw them.

This wasn’t one of those prompts, this was just for fun. Imagine that, drawing just for fun. Practice as fun. What a great concept.

I did end up using watercolor and a bit of acrylics but I spent a lot of time on the drawing itself.

And yes, this is in ink. A cheap ball point pen to be exact.

nice inspiration to scetch more…for me it feels the same way ;-) scetching is not so important, but I know that isnĀ“t true…you have put that idea back in my head ;-) thankzzz

Your work is so inspiring for me, you are an amazing artist. I am a newbie at drawing and I am in Creatives as well. I have just started really participating in the group recently and since becoming more active I realized that I have either drawn, painted or created something with paper. It is such a great outlet and so relaxing.

I’m guilty of this too. I tend to sketch in ball point pen in my journal to get to the paint. I do draw more for my illustration, but I rarely just sketch in pencil for the fun of it.
