• DAJP #5 Trying for a Likeness

    Another of those not straight on faces.

    I must have changed the line on her nose ten times. And now that I have photographed it and called it done I can see it is really wrong. And that chin? Oh my! Sigh

    I just have to embrace the mistakes until I learn to do this type of face. I know a lot of art journalers see my faces and say oh your faces are so good. But that is because they are something I have practiced for years.

    Creating these faces is how I eventually get there. Someday I will be able to paint this profile with ease. Someday! :)

    Until then I will keep practicing. And I was happy with the fact that I did get a bit of a likeness with this. Just a bit, but it made me happy! Now to figure out that nose…

    No oils on this one, just acrylics. The original drawing was ball point pen. No pencils, no erasing. You will learn faster and you will learn to accept your lines for what they are.

    i have been trying to do these faces lately also and they are hard to get..mine are all wonky and my cheeks and noses do not ever seem right..my straight on faces are getting way better with all the practice
    i am looking forward to the faces class.
