I still haven’t decided if I will be bringing Obsessions back in 2015. I have a bit of time left to decide I suppose.
One of the reasons for my indecision is because I am going to be recording a new version of my thirty art journal pages class. Even though I know every teacher out there seems to be doing some version of this class it is still my most favorite to create. It does, on the other hand, really burn through my creative flow and I always end up needing a few weeks of downtime after to recover. Trust me, 45 mins of video every day for one to three months is a lot of video to record, edit and process. So I don’t know if I will be ready to tackle another session of Obsessions right away or not.
Add to that the fact that I have several other classes I want to create and I could actually not look at starting up Obsessions again until next summer.
All of this is on my mind because I just planned out our topics for October. October’s topics are based directly on requests from students [same as September]. These classes are so much fun because they always cover things that I might not have covered in depth if left to my own desires.
Instead these classes are based directly on what you want to see me teach about. It is a great challenge for me to meet and at the same time it gives me the opportunity to teach directly to what you most want to know. There is so much satisfaction in that for me, knowing that I am giving you the answers to your most burning questions.
I love art and I love teaching other artists. It is my true obsession!

From GAJ on Facebook:
Just as we did with September, October’s Obsessions topics are entirely driven by student requests. These are my favorite classes because they push me to be out of my own head and into the creative obsessions of my students. October will cover some of the following topics:
- Mixed media faces + layering faces with acrylics
- Art Collage, getting started and finishing those unfinished pages
- Choosing a subject matter for your art journal page when you don’t have one in mind + Story telling and how I do it.
I am so excited and I think this is a fantastic way to finish off Obsessions for the year.
