About Me

Updated April 1st, 2011

My name is Christy Sobolewski and I am an artist. I am primarily a painter of portraits. People fascinate me and I am enamored of the human condition. I am especially drawn to eyes that hold untold stories and secrets. Many times I am told my paintings are sad or highly emotional. For me that means I have conveyed some bit of what I feel when viewing the original model. I am not here to just paint pretty smiling faces.

My greatest joys and greatest sorrows have all been experienced in relation to another person. Be it the birth of a child, the loss of a love or the death of a companion. Life is defined by our humanity. We are social in our nature and our greatest moments are almost always in the company of another.

I was born in South Florida and lived on our family sail boat until school age. I love Florida and believe it greatly influences my art. Most especially in my color palette of choice.
