I Painted Live Today

I decided at the last minute yesterday to paint live today. I sent out a notice to all of the art geeks though. Whew!

For those of you who didn’t know about the show or who might not have been able to make it {Super Bowl anyone?} Livestream managed to record it for me. Thank goodness Livestream automatically records I love Livestream!

Neon

I admit it, I loved the 80′s and early 90′s. And one of the things I loved the most was all the amazing neon colors. {DAJP #29}

Working with these Prisma colored pencils motivated me to get out my special collection of fluorescent air brush paints.

I am also cutting and designing stencil again and I was playing with one of the January stencils on this page!

I cut these cute flowers out of a scrapbook page and collaged them down. Then I altered and doodled over them ala Traci.

Much fun was had!

Trust In Me

One of the reasons I so love singers like Duffy is her ability to sing like the great diva’s of soul.

Magical Art

Still very much absorbing both Traci’s class and Rhomany’s influence on my art journal. {DAJP #27}

You can still see a bit of Traci’s influence in the stylized eyes. And Rhomany has been teaching me so much about colored pencils. Other than her cheeks and a layer over her hair of oil pastels, this face was drawn entirely with colored pencils.

I have had my Prisma pencils for a very long time. Never use them. I am beginning to appreciate them!

The rest of the page is a bit bland. Had a big scary thing happen in my personal life that caused me to lose interest in finishing the rest of the page. I’m satisfied with her though and that is all that matters to me and my art journal practice!

Art Geeks Prompt #14

What a blast it was this week to have Rhomany { of Rhomany’s Realm } as our guest artist! And so much fun because I was able to play right along with all of the other members from a position of participant and not leader. {DAJP #26}

Not only did she include fabric as the overall theme of an art journal page {and she used velvet} but she also got me way out of my comfort zone with a self-portrait.

I knew immediately I wanted to work with my new hair color and so I chose a very recent {last week} photo to illustrate.

I also used some pretty trim, velvet, satin, colored pencil, watercolor, acrylics, iridescent paint sticks and oil pastels.

I think the above photo reflects how very much I loved this prompt!

Huge thanks to Rhomany for putting this prompt together for us. I hope she will be interested in doing more Art Geeks prompts in the future!
