You know what the best part of social networking is in this digital age? It is finding like minded fellows with which to collaborate and commune and in general enjoy your time with.

A sketch I finished today after two days of struggle. A struggle made lighter by the support and kind instruction of friends I have met online.

A struggle made lighter for the tribe that I so proudly am a member of.

A tribe of artists who openly embrace that which makes me stand out.

The sweet / salty combination that is me.

Like chocolate covered salted popcorn.

I Painted Live Today

I decided at the last minute yesterday to paint live today. I sent out a notice to all of the art geeks though. Whew!

For those of you who didn’t know about the show or who might not have been able to make it {Super Bowl anyone?} Livestream managed to record it for me. Thank goodness Livestream automatically records I love Livestream!

Neon

I admit it, I loved the 80′s and early 90′s. And one of the things I loved the most was all the amazing neon colors. {DAJP #29}

Working with these Prisma colored pencils motivated me to get out my special collection of fluorescent air brush paints.

I am also cutting and designing stencil again and I was playing with one of the January stencils on this page!

I cut these cute flowers out of a scrapbook page and collaged them down. Then I altered and doodled over them ala Traci.

Much fun was had!

New Series – 1 Minute Drawings Into Paintings

I have been working on my new faces class which will be released in February 2012. In the process I have been creating little 1 minute pen drawings.

I then take these simple line drawings and turn them into full mixed-media paintings. Instead of putting them in the class folder as documentation I thought it would be fun to offer them for sale.

These are done on book weight paper {approximately 60 – 80lb} and will require framing. But for a collector they are an affordable way to own original one of a kind art.

Because these are for a class I decided to record this first one to see how well my new HD camera will work for video class recordings.

I have a love for painting with heavily textured mediums. Cold wax with oil paints is the perfect combination for me.

It is difficult in photos to really show the amazing texture since photographs flatten the subject. But here is a slightly angled photo to help show you.
