A sketch I finished today after two days of struggle. A struggle made lighter by the support and kind instruction of friends I have met online.

A struggle made lighter for the tribe that I so proudly am a member of.

A tribe of artists who openly embrace that which makes me stand out.

The sweet / salty combination that is me.

Like chocolate covered salted popcorn.

Or a bacon shake

You can still see a bit of Traci’s influence in the stylized eyes. And Rhomany has been teaching me so much about colored pencils. Other than her cheeks and a layer over her hair of oil pastels, this face was drawn entirely with colored pencils.

I have had my Prisma pencils for a very long time. Never use them. I am beginning to appreciate them!

The rest of the page is a bit bland. Had a big scary thing happen in my personal life that caused me to lose interest in finishing the rest of the page. I’m satisfied with her though and that is all that matters to me and my art journal practice!

I am very satisfied with her overall and the only thing I see that could be improved is the width of her nose.

Tomorrow I start to paint her. I will be trying out mixing oils over acrylics in washes. Something I have really been wanting to play with and I can’t think of a better opportunity than a challenge. Have a lovely week and for those in the United States a Happy Thanksgiving!
