For those of you who didn’t know about the show or who might not have been able to make it {Super Bowl anyone?} Livestream managed to record it for me. Thank goodness Livestream automatically records I love Livestream!

Here is the show:

I then take these simple line drawings and turn them into full mixed-media paintings. Instead of putting them in the class folder as documentation I thought it would be fun to offer them for sale.

These are done on book weight paper {approximately 60 – 80lb} and will require framing. But for a collector they are an affordable way to own original one of a kind art.

Because these are for a class I decided to record this first one to see how well my new HD camera will work for video class recordings.

Because of that I am very proud to say that I followed through with all of the lessons from Traci’s doodle class and have finished my final class piece. I learned a lot from her instruction and I really like my end results.

I have to say as much as I worried about being influenced by her lessons at first I now realize that it will only be a good influence. I really kept my own style, my own type of doodles and my own type of girl.

And yet I added so much more to it by seeing both how fun it can be to get a little stylized in my faces {that eye is all Traci’s and the hair too}. I learned that I can get more detailed in a whimsical portrait without it being too busy. And I learned to take my doodles to a whole new level by not only adding them back in as collage but then building upon them further.

Overall I rate the class as A+ { I only wish it was longer} and I look forward to her book “Doodles Unleashed“. Traci is an amazing artist and I am very grateful to her and to Strathmore for offering this class for free to the public!

I know, toilet rolls. But they are just so cute {don’t they remind you of tin cookie cutters?}. I could see using these or a variation of this in several little artsy projects.

I sprayed mine with inks, painted them with gesso and acrylics, and plan to edge them with gold and black eventually. I just have to wait because I need one more.

Nothing like asking everyone in the house if they need a new roll each time they come out of one of the bathrooms

My having been a mixed-media artist for a while now my family doesn’t think twice of this type of behavior anymore.

I found this big guy in an art book I was ripping pages out of to alter it into a journal. I knew I would be using him one day and today is it. He is just awesome in every way imaginable. So he had to have his own page.

The other collage items are from one of my new digital sheets called Fun House Framed.

I love these new sheets because I used my own stencil designs when I was creating them and now I can double that up and continue it with all of the additional paint layers.

Not to mention reusing faces in new ways.

Really, I just get such a kick out of that.

This is in another of my new journals. This is the one with the really slick pages, but it was otherwise a perfect book for altering. So I sat down and covered every single page with map pages first.

Best thing I have done yet as I love the texture of the map pages and I love the colors in them. And I can just leave bits {like the lower right hand corner on the above picture} peeking through my layers. And yet it isn’t just text like my more standard altered journals. No these are maps
